A wiki is a website developed by a group of users. It allows anyone to edit and add a content. It has a collaborative use and it can be an effective tool for learning and sharing information. A wiki is an open- editing system.
Why should we use it?
Using wikis in education support collaborative learning.
Students can become more active in learning.
It improves students' writing skills.
Students can share their knowledge with each other outside of the classroom.
How should teachers use it?
Teachers should teach students how to use wikis.
Teachers should encourage students' interaction with each other.
Teachers should observe their students' activities.
Teachers should clearly define students' roles in this activity.
Teachers should tell students to comment each other's entries.
I have created a wiki page in order to introduce the book ''Poor Folk'' written by Dostoyevsky. I have written a summary and information about the novel. It is a book that I really loved and enjoyed. That's why I have chosen this book. I hope you like my book review.

A podcast is a digital audio file that available as series on the Internet. You can subscribe podcasts like subscribing blogs and download it automatically.
Our assignment for the Instructional Technology & Materials Design is creating a podcast. We had to work in pairs (me and İbrahim)
Creating a podcast was enjoyable and fun. We have created a short sound-rich story which includes 4 specific words. I would use podcasting with my students in the future because I think it is a useful tool for education.
Here is our first podcast:
The educational system has been improving greater than ever before. 21st-century learning is an effort which teachers’ and learners’ skills have started to evolve. Before the involvement of technology in teaching and learning, learners had a lot of limitations, but thanks to the technology everything is easier now. With the development of technology, learners can use a dictionary, study, listen to pronunciations and read in the target language. The role of education has changed. The role of education was prepare students for specific duties. Today, it is different. This stage is called Integrative CALL (computer-assisted language learning). Integrative CALL is derived from the sociocultural model of language learning. According to sociocultural model, interaction is essential for learning. With the development of technology in the Integrative CALL stage, web-based activities for learning started to be used. Learners began to learn how to use technological activities as a tool for learning.
Now, let’s look at the 21st-century skills:
Problem-solving
Creativity
Critical thinking
Collaboration
Communication
Problem Solving: Students should learn the ability of solve complex issues. It is important because as the society grows, so the complexity of problems become greater.
Creativity: Students should learn to think and work creatively. Today, think creatively in real life and in digital environments is really important.
Critical Thinking: Critical thinking is the ability to think and analyze clearly about what to do. Why it is important? Because students have to able to deal with every kind of issues quickly and effectively. It improves the way we express our ideas.
Collaboration: Students have to learn to collaborate. We are living in a social world. We talk, chat, post, share and work with people. Connection and collaboration with people are essential for learning.
Communication: Every student must know how to communicate with others, not just in the digital environment but also in real life.
Computer Assisted Language Learning (CALL) is defined as an
approach to language teaching in which the computer is used as an assistant in
teaching and learning With the development of computer and technology, CALL has
become a need in second language teaching. The education has changed. In the
past, there were blackboards, chalk etc. Now, they have been replaced by modern
tools. CALL can increase the learners’ interest in learning and decrease
anxiety, and it also gives students richer language input.
There are three development stages of CALL: Behaviorist
CALL, Communicative CALL, and Integrative CALL.
During the 1960s and 1970s,the behaviorism approach
influenced CALL. This stage of CALL is defined as behavioristic CALL. It was
based on behaviorist-structuralist theorıes. This is was the era of stimulus
and response. Because behavioristic learning was based on habit formation. The
computer shows student a question (stimulus) and the student gives an answer
(response) to that question. The methods were Grammar-Translation and
Audiolingual method.
In the second stage of CALL (Communicative CALL) the microcomputers
were widely used. The Communicative Approach to language teaching influenced
CALL. In this period, instead of teaching grammatical rules, teachers started
to find ways for students to use the language. At this stage, the attention was on the
communicative practice. The Communicative approaches came up that are based on
meaning-focused learning.
The next phase of CALL is the Integrative Phase which came
up in 1990s. Integrative CALL is derived from the sociocultural model of
language learning. Teacher-based education has been replaced by student-based
education.
